Lecture on CBLI by Professor Esteve

Lecture on CBLI by Professor Esteve

Professor Olga Esteve (Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain) visited the Center for Language Acquisition and CALPER this week. Olga Esteve's work focuses on reshaping language teacher education programs in order to bridge the gap between theory and practice and to promote meaningful appropriation of pedagogical principles underlying the new curricula of additonal language learning in Catalunya and other regions of Spain. Her approach is based on sociocultural perspectives of language teacher development and integrates concept-based language instruction. During her two-day stay on our campus, she consulted with graduate students and collegues and gave a lecture entitled "Helping Teachers Reconceptualize Their Teaching Practice Through the Barcelone CBI-based Formative Model."
Professor Esteve traveled on to the NHLRC at UCLA to hold a plenary lecture, together with James P. Lantolf, at the 10th International Conference on Language Teacher Education.
