Figurative Language, Conceptual Fluency and L2 Proficiency

Project 2010-2014:
Objectives: To create instructional resources for teaching figurative language and promoting conceptual fluency in Chinese, Russian, and Spanish. Specifically, the project will develop three comparative dictionaries that explicate the major conceptual metaphors/metonymies in each language compared and contrasted with English. It will then design pedagogical materials to teach and assess conceptual fluency based on the dictionaries.
