Working with Spoken Chinese
by Hongyin Tao, UCLA We just published a print copy of our materials for learners of Chinese. While similar to the online site, which has been available to teachers for a while, in the print version, we streamlined exercises, updated activities and introduced new tasks. The book consists of 10 units that highlight important interactive aspects of Chinese. Exercises and activities, which are built around these aspects, focus on the grammar of spoken language, the lexicon, and some of the most important features that characterize spoken discourse. We also created a Companion Website with detailed transcripts, line-by line commentaries, vocabulary lists, concordances and audio clips. The materials in this book are designed for high-intermediate to advanced learners (ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines) who want to improve their speaking and listening skills in conversational Chinese. More information at Working with Spoken Chinese. |
