LARC/CALPER Webinar tomorrow!
| Don't forget to join us for the 3rd LARC/CALPER webinar on assessment. This one will be conducted by Carl Falsgraf, director of CASLS, the LRC at the University of Oregon. The topic is "Beyond Accountability: Using Formative Assessment to Improve Learning".

1st Annual Chinese Pedagogical Workshop at Penn State
| The Chinese Program at the Pennsylvania State University is pleased to host the 1st annual Chinese Pedagogical Workshop at the University Park campus on Saturday, December 3, 2011.

We are honored to welcome four distinguished speakers who will share their expertise.
Dr. Yun Xiao, Associate Professor of Chinese, Chair of the Department of Modern Languages at Bryant University, will present on "Chinese Language in the U.S.: Maintenance and Shift".
Dr. Yea-Fen Chen, Associate Professor, Executive Director of the Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA) and Chinese Program Coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will speak on "AP Chinese: Test Results, Current Development and Impact".
Dr. Chuanren Ke, Professor of Foreign Language Acquisition Research and Education, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Iowa, will present on "OPI Principles and Classroom Applications".
Dr. Shijuan Liu, Assistant Professor of Chinese at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, column editor for the Journal of Technology and Chinese Language Teaching will speak on "Online Tools and Resources for Elementary Mandarin Courses".
This one-day workshop will be held from 9:00am - 5:00pm. Attendance is free, but registration is required. If you are interested in participating, please contact Ms. Jia Yu at jxy28@psu.edu by November 18th to register and for obtaining further details.
The workshop is sponsored by the Confucius Institute, the Chinese Program, and the Center for Advanced Language Proficiency Education and Research (CALPER) at Penn State.
