Arlo Bensinger, Technology Coordinator of CALPER, earned his M.Ed. in Instructional Systems Design, with an emphasis in the learning technologies, from Penn State University in 2001. His professional research interests focus on the role of computer-mediation on learner-learner interactions effecting knowledge construction and community success. Specifically, in media-related effects on the level and type of interactions necessary to move participants from periphery to mastery status within a learning community, and foster knowledge construction at the different levels of learning among the various learning taxonomies. Prior to his involvement with CALPER, he was employed by the University Libraries where he provided instructional seminars for sections of freshman English, outreach initiatives and public library sessions. He participated in the e-Reference Task Force, which developed an implementation plan for reengineering existing library electronic reference services. He also served as webmaster for The Gateway Commons, an electronic reference library within the libraries, and designed and developed web-based instructional resources. He has professional experience with training needs assessment, task analysis, design and development of instructional support materials for use via web-enabled and paper-based delivery. | |||
