Junko Mori (Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1996) is an Associate Professor of Japanese in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literature at UW-Madison. She is also a member of the executive committee for the UW-Madison's newly established interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Second Language Acquisition. Prior to returning to her alma mater as a faculty member, she taught Japanese language and linguistics at the University of Iowa. She has investigated the interrelationship between grammar and social interaction by using the methodological framework of conversation analysis. This work is represented in her book Negotiating Agreement and Disagreement in Japanese: Connective Expressions and Turn Construction (John Benjamins, 1999). Recently, her research has focused on interactions involving learners of Japanese that take place in and outside the classroom. This direction of work is reflected in her recent article in a special issue of Applied Linguistics, which she co-edited with Jane Zuengler. She has also organized various symposiums, conferences, and workshops related to applied linguistics and Japanese language teaching. | |||
