A Collaborative Project with the Center for Educational Resources in Culture, Language, and Literacy (CERCLL)


Description: This project will create, implement, and assess the effectiveness of topic-based modules for preparing the future foreign language professoriate to teach with a multiliteracies approach across the undergraduate curriculum. The modules will include:
  • (1) rethinking the teaching of reading: Designing meaning
  • (2) Rethinking the teaching of writing: The role of genre
  • (3) Orality in the classroom: Scaffolding participation
  • (4) Formulating learning goals and objectives from a literacy-oriented approach
  • (5) Integrating online interaction
  • (6) Designing assessment
  • (7) Listening comprehension: The features of highly comprehensible aural texts
  • (8) Visual literacy: Helping learners discriminate and interpret visual objects, images, and symbols.
