Travel Information to State College

BY CAR

  • From New York City, the suggested route is via the George Washington Bridge to I-80. In Pennsylvania, Exit I-80 at Exit 161 (Bellefonte), follow PA 26 south to US 220 south to State College.
  • From the Philadelphia Area, take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 19 (Harrisburg East), and follow I-283 to I-83. Proceed north to the I-81 Interchange. Then follow I-81 west to US Route 322 west through Lewistown to State College.
  • From Pittsburgh, follow US Route 22 to Duncansville, US Route 220 (bypassing downtown Altoona and Tyrone) through Port Matilda, then take US Route 322 east to State College.
  • From the West, take I-80 to Exit 20 (Woodland) just east of Clearfield, then US Route 322 east to State College.
  • From Washington, DC, several routes are available. Take I-270 to Frederick, I-70 to Breezewood, US Route 30 to Everett, and PA Route 26 to State College; or follow I-270 to Frederick, US Route 15 past Camp Hill, and then US Route 322 to State College; or take I-95 or the Baltimore–Washington Parkway to Baltimore, west loop I-695 to I-83 north, then I-81 west to US Route 322 west, and proceed to State College.

BY PLANE
US Airways Express from Philadelphia; Northwest Airlink from Detroit; and United Express from Washington DC (Dulles), Delta from Cincinnati, OH, serve State College through the State College Airport (SCE), located five miles from campus. Rental car, limousine, and taxi services are available. Most hotels offer a free shuttle service. You will find courtesy phones next to the baggage claim area.

Located ninety miles southeast of State College, Harrisburg International Airport offers an alternative arrival and departure location, with more than 350 flights weekly. Airlines serving Harrisburg are American, ComAir, Continental Express, Delta, Northwest, United, and US Airways. Rental car service is available.

BY BUS
Fullington Trailways (814-238-1100) and Greyhound Lines (814-238-7971) connections are available to and from State College.
