Symposium Webcast

The First CALPER Symposium on "Perspectives on Advanced Language Proficiency", held on July 13, 2005 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., was webcast live.

Webcast Video Feed: Thank you all for participating in a very successful webcast. I am aware of a three cases where some technical issues prevented viewers from accessing the video feed, and express regret over your missing a dynamic and informative event. To those who were able to view, and offered feedback (both supportive and critical), CALPER expresses sincere gratitude. Keep watching the CALPER site for information on a potential re-broadcast, as well as other information coming out of this Symposium. Again, from the technology coordinator of CALPER, I thank you all. -Arlo Bensinger

Technology Requirements:
  • The webcast was conducted using the QuickTime Streaming Server™, and required the use of the QuickTime™ Player. This media player is available for free, and can be downloaded at Apple's QuickTime page.
  • You may be able to use the Real Media Player™ (available for free at Real.com) provided you have downloaded a small codec update (the Real Player™ should automatically detect and install this update when it attempts to launch a QuickTime™ movie).
Known troubleshooting tips:
  • RealOne™ users will need to update to the new Real Player™ in order to view the video
  • QuickTime™ users may need to update their QuickTime Player™ to accept MPEG-4 video and audio
  • The webcast will be conducted using RTSP/UDP (Real Time Streaming Protocol/User Datagram Protocol) packets. Viewers behind a firewall that restricts RTSP/UDP packets may not be able to receive the stream. Please contact your local IT personnel and have them open the firewall to RTSP/UDP packets.
